Level 3 Health Education learning objectives

Health Education Indicators/Outcomes by Grade

LEVEL 1

  1. Analyze the influence of family, peers, culture, media, technology, and other factors on health [i.e., health beliefs, behaviors, attitudes, perceptions, and choices].

  2. Define health, health risks, and risky behavior.

  3. Be able to define and describe prevailing themes and messages in Popular Youth Music Multimedia [PYMM]

  4. Describe and discuss what is considered risky behaviors portrayed in PYMM, based on facts.

LEVEL 2

  1. Discuss the role of culture in shaping and reflecting norms that may contribute to human development, paying special attention to: a) identity; b) values; c) coping strategies, and d) communication norms.

  2. Be able to identify common stressors and triggers.

  3. Be able to identify personal stressors and triggers.

  4. Describe/demonstrate at least one personally effective coping strategy.  

 LEVEL 3 [Grade 10]

  • Discuss factors that contribute to health and mental health disparities, paying special attention to disparities based on race, class, gender and sexual orientation.
